Caramelized figs with mascarpone and maple syrup

Grocery day at the regular supermarket. Suddenly my eyes caught the nice beautiful fresh figs lying on the shelve. Couldn't resist, and now I have a lot of figs in my fridge. I'll do a quick and easy dessert as in Donna Hay's, Fast, Fresh, Simple. Fresh fruits are always good. They taste best when they are in season. CP and G love figs. This will be the dessert after dinner.

Caramelized figs and maple mascarpone (adapted from Donna Hay, Fast, Fresh, Simple)
  • 8 figs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
Heat the non stick frying pan over high heat. Take 8 figs and cut them in half. Then take 1/2 cup of brown sugar and press the cut side of figs into the sugar. place the figs sugar side down into the hot pan and cook around 10-15 seconds until the sugar is melted or caramelized. Arrange the figs on serving plates. Place a large spoonful of mascarpone onto each serving plate, pour maple syrup onto the plate and they are ready to serve.

  2. Thanks for an easy and lovely-sounding recipe - I too fell victim to the siren song of the lovely figs at the market!
