Orecchiette a gift from Italy

I cooked orecchiette with cherry tomatoes today. The pack of orecchiette was a gift from my Italian friends. These are handmade pasta and had tri-colors. Super cute, aren't they?  Orecchiette are little cute pastas shaped like ears. I was introduced to this pasta by my friend whose husband comes from Bari, in the south of Italy.

We had them for lunch today.  CP and the kids cleaned up every last bit of the pasta. I think this is another family favorite.

Orecchiette with cherry tomatoes
Serves 4

  • 400 g dried orecchiette
  • 200 g cherry tomatoes, cut into halves
  • 4 cloves of garlic, sliced
  • 10 birds eye chillies
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • a handful of chopped Italian parsley

Cook the pasta in plenty of boiling salted water.
While the pasta is cooking, fry the garlic and chillies with olive oil in a small saucepan and add cherry tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Then pour over the drained pasta, quickly toss with chopped parsley and serve.
